Relocation Study

Our study tracks couples who are going to relocate for one partner’s job in the near future—a growing trend in our fast-paced, mobile world. The study involves an online survey that will be distributed prior to couples relocating, during the move (i.e. 5 brief biweekly surveys), and after the relocation (i.e. 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after). Given the longer-term commitment we require in this one-of-a-kind study, we want to emphasize that couples will be compensated appropriately for their valuable time and efforts (up to $120 CAD per person or $240 per couple).

To be eligible for our study, you and your partner must be:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Currently living together
  • Able to read and write in English
  • Planning to relocate for one of your jobs/schooling in the upcoming year (preferably in at least two months)
  • Both willing to participate in the study

If you meet our criteria and are interested in participating in our study, we ask that you email us at with the subject line “Interest in Romantic Relationships and Relocation Study”.

We look forward to hearing from all of the relocaters out there!
With great thanks,
